SINOPSE
On entering the virtual world of “Second Life”, the Brazilian visual artist Paulo Bruscky meets film director Gabriel Mascaro. Mascaro, an ex-film film director from north-east Brazil currently lives and works making machinima (virtual short films) in the “Second Life”. Paulo hires Gabriel to make a machinima documentary of his adventures as a newcomer to the “Second Life”.
Paulo Bruscky is considered one of the pioneers of art works produced using electronic recording techniques; slide projection, fax, super-8 film, video, xerox, off-set printing. He is also known for producing works that use simple printing machines such as the mimeograph, and for his ‘Mail Art’ as part of the Fluxus movement. Bruscky has an important documental archive of the post-war artistic vanguard with which he participated, including original works by the Gutai group (Japan) and Fluxus. As a video artist, in the three year period from 1979 to 1982 he produced over 30 video-art works. In 1980, he invented “xerofilms”, (films made from Xerox copies), which opened up a new field for animation design and experimental cinema.
Bruscky currently resides in his hometown of Recife, in the North East of Brazil. Despite being one of Brazil’s most important contemporary conceptual artists, Bruscky has earnt his living working for the local government for the past 30 years.
